The course will introduce delegates to a series of tuning steps, which can be used to improve the performance of the Oracle9i Server. The focus is on Database and Instance tuning rather than specific operating system performance issues. The course includes a one-day interactive workshop that provides delegates with ‘real-world’ experience, including problem diagnosis and performance enhancement.Course objectives
On completing this course, delegates will be able to:
Configure an Oracle database with an emphasis on good performance
Perform day-to-day monitoring on an operational database using STATSPACK
List the important steps for outlining a tuning methodology
Use Oracle tools to diagnose performance problems
Reconfigure file structures for performance and other considerations
Identify and resolve I/O, data storage and database configuration problems Detect and resolve latch and lock contention problems within the Oracle database environment
Configure memory and disk resources to optimise sort operation
Diagnose and resolve performance issues associated with Shared Server
Configure Resource Manager to control resource usage
