Training Course Summary:
This is a three-day course introducing MPLS on specific router and switch platforms. Topics covered will be MPLS Technology Overview, Label Distribution Protocol, Traffic Engineering, Quality of Service, MPLS VPNs, MPLS VPN Management, and MPLS with ATM. This class does not cover implementation on BPX and MGX platforms. Platforms covered include the 7200, 7500, 3600, LS 1010.Course Objectives
The intent of this course is to provide the customer with (1) an in-depth working knowledge of MPLS, and (2) hands-on application of the installation, configuration, and management concepts behind MPLS-based networks. The lab exercises are conducted using the 3600 class of routers. Any customer representative who will be responsible for installing, configuring, managing an MPLS-based network should take this course.
Pre-Requisites:
Prior to attending this course, participants must possess a basic knowledge of data networking including ATM, in addition to having completed the following courses:Interconnecting Cisco Network Devices (ICND)
Building Cisco Scalable Networks (BCSN)

Modlule OneMPLS Overview
Description: This section is designed to provide students with a high-level description of MPLS and how it fits into networks. Topics covered will include: features, functions, and benefits of MPLS in addition to practical applications.
Module Two
Cisco MPLS Implementation
Description: This section is designed to introduce students to Cisco's implementation of MPLS technology and the types of devices that are enabled with label switching capabilities. Topics covered will include: Cisco products implemented Label Switching and real applications for MPLS as well as an explanation of Cisco Express Forwarding (CEF) and its requirements for MPLS.
Module Three
Label Distribution Protocol
Description: This section is designed to provide students with a detailed description of MPLS Label Distribution Protocol (LDP), its implementation and how it drives MPLS. Topics included will be an overview of LDP and show and config commands
Module Four
MPLS Traffic Engineering
Description: This section is designed to provide students with a depiction of the utilization of MPLS Traffic Engineering to take advantage of product features. An overview of Traffic Engineering, basic CLI commands and parameters are discussed and demonstrated.
Module Five
MPLS Quality of Service
Description: This section is designed to provide students with a detailed depiction of the utilization of MPLS Quality of Service to take advantage of product features. In addition, it provides students with an overview of suggested hardware and software configurations along with basic CLI commands and parameters used for QoS.
Module Six
MPLS VPNs
Description: This module provides students with a detailed description of the optimal placement and utilization of MPLS VPNs in a network environment to take advantage of product features. In addition, there is an overview of MPLS VPN architecture; the mechanisms implemented in IOS. Lastly, CLI commands and parameters are discussed and demonstrated.
Module Seven
MPLS Operations Management
Description: This section defines the basic procedures necessary for remote management and operations monitoring of MPLS in a networking environment.
