By building on a broad platform of basic storage technology and on the features and benefits that the MDS 9000 family brings to the market, the student develops skills in installing and configuring new installations and in troubleshooting techniques for resolving problems in existing implementations.Course Objectives
After completing this course the student should be able to:
Identify the Cisco MDS 9000 Family of products and describe their key value-added features and benefits to the customer
Describe the MDS 9000 Family system components, installation practices, and initial configurations
Describe and configure system features on the MDS 9000 Family of multi-layer switches
Describe the use of MDS 9000 Family basic and advanced troubleshooting tools and best practices for resolving common SAN problem scenarios, using some of these tools
Describe the MDS 9000 Family system components, features, diagnostics, and management capabilities
Install and configure MDS 9000 Family of multi-layer switches
Describe the purposes of MDS 9000 Family troubleshooting tools and use them to perform basic troubleshooting tasks
Pre-Requisites:
Understanding of basic data storage components and protocols such as networked storage devices, direct attached storage (DAS), fibre channel based storage area networks (SAN), and network attached storage (NAS), including some familiarity with Fibre Channel architecture. These prerequisites may satisfied by viewing the following Cisco eLearning courses:Cisco Storage Networking Basics
Fibre Channel Concepts and Architecture
The student is also expected to be familiar with Cisco IOS and GUI interfaces.
