training course enquiry
Training Course Summary:
In the ONS 15540 ESP Test & Turn-up training, students will configure the 15540 in ring DWDM topologies. Students will be responsible for configuration of all ONS 15540 equipment, including installing motherboards, transponders, OADMs and so forth. They will then cable the network per the provided network topology. Students will also utilize classroom available test equipment such as fiberscope, and power meter to properly test and install fiber and provision wavelengths. Students will then configure all 15540 cross connects using Cisco IOS. Once the network is operational, students will apply protection strategies to their network. Finally, students will learn troubleshooting techniques should the components not operate as intended.Course Objectives
After completing this course the student should be able to:
Determine What A Metropolitan Area Network (MAN) Is And List The Business Requirements For DWDM MAN Networks
Identify The Common DWDM Network Architectures That Include 15540s, Place The 15540s Within The Architecture And Trace Traffic Through The ONS 15540s
Given A 15540 Point-To-Point, Ring, Or Mesh Network Topology, Select, Install, Cable And Configure The Components To Operate Within The Network.
Given A 15540 Network Being Implemented, Test That The Network Is Operating As Intended With Appropriate Test Equipment Such As Analyzers.
Given A Requirement For Protection, Identify Supported Protection Schemes And Enable Them In Your Network.
Configure And View Protocol Monitoring And Alarms
Manage The Network With The Optical Service Channel (OSC) And CPU.
Pre-Requisites:
Able to configure and operate Cisco's IOS enabled equipment as taught in Interconnecting Cisco Network Devices (ICND).Hands on experience working in Optical MAN environments that include working with equipment such as fiber, T1s, TDM, multiplexers/demultiplexers, SONET/SDH, DWDM and so forth. Concept training can be obtained from the Optical Networking Technologies (OPBNT) Cisco training offering. (Students should also have product training on the boxes the 15540 will integrate with.)
Operate optical test equipment such as fiberscopes, OTDRs, OSAs as specified by the manufacturer.
Who Should Attend:
Customers, partners and Cisco employees who are Level 2+ installers, or need to test and turn up the 15540 in newly installed sites. From a job role perspective, deployment engineers, technicians, project managers, and operations personnel will benefit most from this course.Training Course Overview/Content:
