Profile
Any person working who has to manage Oracle relational databases within a network.

This course includes basic Net8 and SQL-based network management for Oracle8 and 8i.

Techniques and information are supported through Oracle Certification Program. There is a strong practical element, all teaching is supported by practical and progressive exercises

Pre-Requisites:

Delegates must be familiar with the underlying operating system (typically Windows or UNIX). Basic Oracle DBA skills are assumed.

Oracle Listeners and their management : Failover, pre-spawned processes, Connection Pooling
Connection manager
Oracle Server process management : Dedicated, pre-spawned, multi-threaded, dispatcher
Oracle Environment Files : tnsnames, names, sqlnet, .ora files, host files etc.
Default settings
Search mechanisms : Local vs Named, vs Host file vs third party, Failover, Regions, Bequeath protocol
Configuring Client and Server
Diagnosing common problems
Setting and interpreting network traces
Using standard network tools : lsnrctl, namesctl, tnsping, net8 configurer and assistant Oracle Enterprise Manager
Building management using Oracle SQL database links (various flavours), Powerful Oracle data dictionary views
Setting key server parameters : Including REMOTE_OS_AUTHENT, LARGE_POOL
