Training Course Summary:

This course is aimed at anyone working in IT who now has to deal with development, design or management of Oracle databases and applications. An overview version of this course can be made available for managers and end users.

Pre-Requisites:

Delegates should have Oracle SQL, plus some developer, designer or DBA experience.

§ Oracle changes to basic datatypes, new datatypes: Timestamp.§ Oracle SQL new features: Merge statement, default keyword, Percentile, selection from new basic functions brief intro to analytic functions (introduced in Oracle8i )§ Multi-block support: tablespaces based on different block sizes, multiple-multi-sized buffer pools.§ Tablespace new features and changes in defaults: the rise and rise of locally managed tablespaces§ Undo Management 9i managed rollback segments§ Oracle External Tables: table rows stored in OS flat files § Oracle Managed Files: 9i manages OS files on your behalf§ Oracle dynamic memory management features: many new features here§ System Parameter Files, persistent parameter changes§ Deprecation of ANALYZE. Replacement use of DBMS_STATS, DBMS_SPACE § Partition table improvements: partition by list, global index improvements . . . § Selection of new or new features in PL/SQL supplied packages: DBMS_FLASHBACK, DBMS_LOGMNR, DBMS_METADATA, etc § Oracle tools overview: new features in Oracle Enterprise Manager, sqlplus, worksheet, (really goodbye to) svrmgr, export and import including Oracle8i transport tablespace.
