The series is a collection of nine different fast-paced seminars addressing key application development and infrastructure topics. The aim of each seminar is to provide experienced IT professionals with a rapid introduction to the terminology, concepts and underlying technologies. The series have been selected because of their relevance and influence in today’s IT marketplace.

The seminars introduce technologies in an incremental fashion, exploring the limitations and strengths of each, and building a picture which illustrates why the pieces have come about and how they all fit together.

Course Content

Starting from a metaphorical piece of string, this seminar builds network technologies from the bottom up. Each layer in the network protocol stack is explained and the technologies to support it are explored. The seminar seeks to provide a deep understanding of networking concepts, and thereby provide a foundation for all forms of programming distributed systems.
