This course has been designed to provide an introduction to the operation and configuration of Cisco Catalyst Switches running Cisco Internetwork Operating System (IOS).Pre-Requisites:

At the end of this class, participants will be able to:Describe the operation of Cisco Catalyst Switches running IOS software.
Understand the cabling requirements for interconnection of Catalyst Switches.
Configure and Interrogate Layer 2 devices for basic operation.
Save Switch Configuration Files to a Network Server.
Save Switch Configuration Files to Disk.
Make a physical connection to the Catalyst Switch Console port.
Provide the switch with the appropriate Password Protection.
Understand the importance of loop avoidance mechanisms utilising IEEE 802.1d and 802.1w.
Configure basic Port Security on Cisco Catalyst switches running IOS.
Configure and Test a Static Mac Address for a given user device.
Configure and Test a Secure Mac Address.
Configure PortFast, UplinkFast and BpduGuard.
Configure FastEtherchannel Trunks.
Configure Speed and Duplex settings.
Understand the principles of a Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN).
Configure a Cisco 2950 Catalyst switch for static VLAN operation.
Configure IEEE 802.1q VLAN Trunks.
This course has been designed as an introduction to Cisco Catalyst Switches and the Internetwork Operating System (IOS). It provides delegates with ‘hands on’ exposure to to Cisco Layer 2 Devices. Key learning points from the practical session will be highlighted and discussed throughout the session.
