Training Course: Sun Java System Directory Server 5.x: Analysis and Planning
training course enquiry
Training Course Summary:
This course provides students with the technical knowledge and skills necessary to design a directory service solution deploying Sun Java System Directory Server 5.x. This course uses a design methodology, as outlined in the Sun Java System Directory Deployment Planning Guide, to assist students in designing and documenting a directory service deploying multiple Sun Java System Directory Servers.Students design a directory service solution for a given case study and present their solutions to other peer groups for evaluation using a case study with guided group discussions and design practices that are paper-based or electronic-based. The design methodology and design practices are key to designing a directory service for a wide range of environments.
Optional hands-on labs are included at the end of the day, in which students implement a design service solution for the given case study. Performing the labs reinforces the key concepts and tasks covered in the design portion of the class. However, the labs are not the primary focus of the course.
This course mainly focuses on planning and design issues related to Directory Server 5.x and not on maintenance and operation issues. Please refer to DIR-2337: Sun Java System Directory Server 5.x: Maintenance and Operations for daily administration topics.
Please Note: Sun has recently rebranded Sun ONE Directory Server to Sun Java System Directory Server. You may see reference to either name within the course description and course materials.
Pre-Requisites:
To succeed fully in this course, students should be able to:Perform basic UNIX tasks
Understand basic UNIX commands
Describe Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) services at a high level
Describe features of the Sun Java System Directory Server (Directory Server)
Install Directory Server
Who Should Attend:
Students who can benefit from this course are directory architects, professional services consultants, and other technical personnel responsible for planning and designing a directory architecture around Sun Java System Directory Server 5.x.Students responsible for the administration and maintenance of Sun Java System Directory Server, or who are interested in more hands-on lab activities with Sun Java System Directory Server should refer to the DIR-2337: Sun Java System Directory Server 5.x: Maintenance and Operations course for more information.
