training course enquiry
Pre-Requisites:
For certification purposes, delegates should have attended the Compaq Systems Product Architecture course. Delegates should feel confident and capable in using Windows 2000, and must also have passed the Microsoft Windows 2000 Server exam and/or have a full Windows 2000 MCSE.Training Course Overview/Content:
Upgrading Compaq Server to Windows 2000The Windows NT and Windows 2000 operating systems are significantly different and require a great deal of preparation and planning for successful upgrade. This topic takes the delegate through a comprehensive upgrade checklist and ends with a series of hands-on lab exercises to upgrade a Windows NT Server to Windows 2000,this includes the use of the Primer utility to prepare the Server for a successful Windows NT to Windows 2000 upgrade.
Software for Microsoft Windows 2000 (ResourcePaq)
Delegates will download and apply the Windows 2000 ResorcePaq to upgrade drivers and agents within a local and across the network server environment.
Installing Windows 2000 on Compaq Servers
Delegates will use the Compaq SmartStart utility to install a clean copy of Windows 2000 and configure the associated storage and network systems.
Compaq support for Windows 2000
This topic uses the Compaq web, active answers and subscription CDs to allow sizing, configuring and monitoring of Compaq servers using Windows 2000. Hands-on labs following this topic will allow delegates to successfully size and configure a Windows 2000 server supporting multiple applications.
Sizing, monitoring, tuning and system design principles.
Sizing and tuning Windows 2000 is a complex process and delegates will learn basic planning, sizing and tuning principles and then apply these principles to the various subsystems within a Compaq Windows 2000 server.
The delegate will learn how to monitor a Windows 2000 Server’s, Processor’s, Memory, Disk, PCI and Network subsystems thus allowing the delegate to understand and learn when the Servers performance is being compromised and the actions they should take.
Hands-on labs will allow for the reinforcement of these principles.
Course Objectives
This course provides in-depth technical information regarding the integration, tuning, and optimization of Windows 2000 installed on Compaq servers.
Hands-on lab activities will be conducted to reinforce learning Compaq SmartStart installation of Windows 2000, Upgrading Compaq Servers to Windows 2000, Compaq and Windows 2000 support, and Windows 2000 performance tuning.
