It is recommended that delegate should have at least 1 year configuring and installing Compaq servers and A+ Certification..Training Course Overview/Content:
Systems Architecture (Processor Technologies, Current Bus, Memory, and Cache Architectures)The current range of processor technologies from the Pentium through to the Pentium III Xeon, Pentium 4 and Itanium and Profusion 8-Way Multiprocessing Technology are delivered in theory based sessions as are current front side bus cache, memory and I/O architectures including RDRAM, DDRRAM, ABP, Advanced ECC, Hot Plug RAID RAM, Online Spare RAM, PCI-X Technology and Compaq Hot Plug PCI facilities.
Configuration Tools and Compaq Utilities
These tools and utilities include Power Supply Utility, Power Switch Utility, Integrated Management Log Viewer and Integrated Management Display Utility. The Compaq Server Utility and Drive Array Advanced Diagnostics are also used during Lab exercises.
Disk Storage Technologies (SMART Array Controller Lab 1 and 2)
Working with the Drive Array Configuration Utility, delegates will install and configure various different RAID levels and use Compaq utilities to simulate drive failures and re-builds and expansions of logical drives.
Delegates will also learn about the latest Raid controllers which includes the SA5302 and SA5304..
Compaq Software (SmartStart, SmartStart Lab 1 and 2)
Delegates will have the opportunity to use the latest version of SmartStart to install various operating systems including Windows 2000, Windows NT 4.0, NetWare 5.1.
Fibre channel and Fibre channel Storage
A basic introduction to the latest Fibre channel technologies is included and covers Fibre channel arbitrated loop products, Fibre channel hubs, RAID Array 4100/4000 and the Compaq Fibre channel tape controller.
Networking Technologies
Delegates will install and configure various Compaq network interface controllers and configure redundant network cards.
ProLiant Server Family Overview (Assembly/Disassembly Lab)
Products include the Proliant 400, 800, 1600, 1850R, 3000, 5500 Xeon, 6400R, 6500 Xeon, 6000/7000 Xeon, 8000, 8500.
Also new products including Proliant ML330, ML350, DL 320, DL 360, ML370, DL380, ML530, ML 570, and the DL760 with PCI-X TaskSmart C Series.
Server and Rack-Mount Options (Diskette Builder Lab, Rack Builder Software Lab, DAAD Lab, Drive Failure Lab)
Full Rack Build including cable management, SwitchBox Technology and integration of both internal and external storage. Racks used on the course are the new 9000 Series Racks.
Systems Diagnostic and Utilities
Delegates will, during lab exercises, be expected to use all available Compaq utilites and diagnostics tools to rectify simulated errors created on the demonstration servers by our Compaq instructors.
Course Objectives
This course will introduce the delegate to the current line of Compaq server products.
The training will be enhanced with resource materials, support software, classroom presentations, instructor-led demonstrations, and the delegate’s participation in completing a series of self-paced lab assignments. The lab exercises will constitute a major part of the course to enable delegates to be fully conversant with assembly and disassembly procedures used with Compaq servers.
