Training Course Summary:
This course focuses on using ManageWise 2.7, Novell's network management software, for effective server management. This course teaches you how to solve network problems using various integrated ManageWise components, including: NetWare Management System (NMS), NetWare Management Agent (NMA), NetWare LANalyzer Agent, LANdesk and virus protection software.Pre-Requisites:
• Students should have taken all other courses in their CNE prep sequence or equivalent experience.• Basic understanding of personal computers, operating systems, and network technology.
• Experience with DOS
• Experience with Windows
• Experience with NetWare 4.x or NetWare 5.x.
Training Course Overview/Content:
• Describe the major features of ManageWise 2.7.• Install and configure ManageWise 2.7 components.
• Identify MW 2.7 components & files responsible for network discovery process.
• Inventory internetwork's hardware & software using Desktop Manager Query tool.
• Troubleshoot user's login problem w/ Conversations table & Capture Packets tool.
• Monitor critical systems on an internetwork using a critical system alarm group.
• Monitor critical systems on an internetwork using a connectivity test group.
• Monitor critical systems on an internetwork using an SNMP profile.
• Monitor critical systems on an internetwork using alarm thresholds.
• Troubleshoot a user's printing problem using Print Server Configuration windows. Troubleshoot a user's printing problem using Queue Monitor & Desktop Manager.
• Scan servers and workstations for computer virus infections.
• Troubleshoot network performance using trend graphs & alarm thresholds. Troubleshoot network performance using conversation tables.
• Troubleshoot network performance using the Capture Packets tool.
• Describe how to plan for system upgrades using an inventory database,
