6447A: First Look: Getting started with Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007

This half-day instructor-led clinic introduces attendees to the technologies and features of Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007.

After completing this course, students will be able to:

• Identify the considerations for implementing Office Communications Server 2007.

• Describe the instant messaging features, clients, and architecture of Office Communications Server 2007.

• Describe the on-premise conferencing features and architecture of Office Communications Server 2007.

• Describe the telephony features of Office Communications Server 2007.

Pre-Requisites:

Before attending this course, students must have:

• Familiarity with Active Directory knowledge and concepts.

• Familiarity with Exchange Server Messaging knowledge and concepts.

• Familiarity with Microsoft Office 2007 or Microsoft Office 2003.

• Familiarity with Windows Server 2003.

• Fundamental Networking knowledge and experience.

Office Communications Server 2007 supports an instant messaging (IM) solution that provides the users in your organization with one-to-one IM, group IM, and file transfer. This module focuses on the instant messaging features, Office Communicator clients, and the role of supporting server components in instant messaging solutions based on Office Communications Server 2007.

Time allocated: 40 minutes for the presentation, 10 minutes for the demonstration.

• Identify the different methods available for deploying and administering the Office Communicator clients.

• Describe the benefits of the rich presence features of Office Communications Server.


Session 3: Office Communications Server 2007 Conferencing Solutions

If two or more employees need to meet in order to progress a project, collaborate on documents, or simply share ideas, Office Communications Server 2007 can enable them to do so by providing support for on-premise conferencing. This module focuses on how to implement an on-premise conferencing solution by using Office Communications Server 2007.

Time allocated: 40 minutes for the presentation, 10 minutes for the demonstration.
