In this course you learn advanced SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 9 (SLES 9) administration skills. This course teaches you how to perform the following Linux system advanced administration tasks for SLES 9:

Install SLES 9
Configure the Network Manually
Configure Network Services
Secure a SLES 9 Server
Manage Backup and Recovery
Develop Shell Scripts
Compile Software from Source
Health Check and Performance Tuning
Manage Hardware and Component Changes
These are advanced administrative skills common to an experienced administrator in an enterprise environment. The final day of class is reserved for a Live Fire exercise that tests your advanced SLES 9 administration skills and prepares you to take the Novell CLP Practicum Exam.

Pre-Requisites:

Before attending this course, you should complete the prerequisites which are the SUSE LINUX Fundamentals (Course 3036) and SUSE LINUX Administration (Course 3037) or have experience managing SLES9 servers in a networked environment.

Who Should Attend:

While the primary audience for this course is the current Novell CNESM , or those with similar experience, who have completed the 2 previous courses in the Novell CLP curriculum, Linux professionals and administrators with experience in other operating systems can also use this course to help prepare for the Novell CLP Practicum.

Qualifications:

This course, along with the skills taught in the SUSE LINUX Fundamentals (Course 3036) and SUSE LINUX Administration (Course 3037) courses, prepare you to take the Novell® Certified Linux® Professional (Novell CLP) certification Practicum Exam. The Novell CLP is the certification for people interested in becoming Linux administrators.

As with all Novell certifications, course work is never required. You only need to pass a Novell CLP Practicum (050-689) to achieve the certification. The Novell CLP Practicum Exam is a hands-on, scenario-based test where you apply the knowledge you have learned to solve real-life problems—demonstrating that you know what to do and how to do it.
